New Year, Better Us
This semester is starting to look like a normal school year for the chapter. COVID-19 is starting to wind down which allows us to go about our daily lives, our school life, and life within our chapter. With it being a new year and new semester we wanted to update everyone on all of the things the chapter has accomplished in the past two months.
2022 Executive Team
We held elections for our new executive team in December and would like to introduce these ladies to you! They have been working hard since election and some of their goals are to increase sisterhood bonding and cohesion, bring more Agriculture Orientation back to the chapter, and to grow the chapters numbers.
President: Mylan Gibson
Mylan is a Junior here at SDSU and is an Animal Science major. She joined Ceres in Spring 2020 and is a member in the Beta Mu pledge class. Mylan wanted to be President "to take on more responsibility in the chapter and be able to be more involved in everything.”
Vice President: Melissa Lauck
Melissa is a junior at SDSU and she is majoring in psychology with a human resources minor. Melissa joined Ceres in Spring of 2020 and is a member of the Beta Mu pledge class. Melissa has grown to love Ceres over the last two years and ran for the position of vice president to "see if I could help the chapter develop and improve and improve my leadership skills along the way."
Treasurer: Samantha Thyen
Sam is a junior here at SDSU and she is an animal science major. She joined Ceres in Fall 2020 and is in the Beta Nu pledge class. Sam spent a semester as assistant treasurer / scholarship chair before stepping into the position of treasurer. She chooses to run for that position and be a part of the executive team because "I wanted a leadership role, and becoming treasurer seemed to be the best fit for me."
Secretary: Kyliee Dunn
Kyliee is a Junior here at SDSU and is a Human Biology (Pre-Med) major with a criminal justice and military science minor. She also joined Ceres in Fall 2020 and is in the Beta Nu pledge class. Kyliee wanted to be secretary "to have the opportunity to be in a leadership position that could have a bigger impact on the chapter, as well as be in a position of power where people can feel comfortable to address issues with me.”

Left to Right: Mylan Gibson, Melissa Lauck, Kyliee Dunn, and Samantha Thyen
Class of Beta Pi
We held our recruitment in late January this semester and had three nights of events. We did a yoga night social, a painting social, and then had a hot cocoa and conversation night for girls to learn more information about the chapter. We gained one wonderful sister this semester!
Meet Kaylee Brown
Kaylee grew up in New Braunfels, TX and is a freshman here at South Dakota State University majoring in Business Economics. Growing up Kaylee was involved in soccer as a manager and player, and since coming to college she's joined Armed Forces Association and Ceres. She joined Ceres "because I wanted to be more involved with campus and express myself better. I also watched rodeos and always wanted to learn more about ag.”

Left to Right - Back: Natalie Kramer, Amanda Ekvall, Destiny Graphenteen, Briana Middendorf, Erica VanDenhuevel, and Amanda Kokett.
Left to Right - Front: Melissa Lauck, Alexis Hundley, Kaylee Brown, Emily Schmiedeberg, Sami Moller, Kyliee Dunn.
Our bid day was held in February as well and the theme was Sister Sleepover. Thank you to Samantha Moller and the rest of the recruitment committee for all their hard work in planning this event!
